An expert on everything wood. Can find most solutions to any wood related problem. on site and lab evaluations, reports. Production of test materials EN113 and EN252 a speciality. Manufacture of bespoke lab equipment. If I can't do it I generally can put you in touch with somebody who can. Special interest in timber in the marine environment. I also do outreach work to spread the good news about wood to young people and schools. Such work is free of charge.

I have trained sawdoctors from all over the world. Current activities.
Research and consultancy. Editor of the International Wood Products Journal. Promotion of the wood industry as a career to young people and those seeking a change of career. Approved tutor for Institute of Wood Science open learning programme.
Technical consultant and an examiner for the Property Care Association Member of Wood Protection Association technical committee.
Production of test materials and apparatus for research laboratories. Current research projects – The evaluation of abrasion resistance of timbers at high moisture contents.
Final fate of mercury treated wood on Brunel viaducts. Qualifications:- Graduate Diploma in Timber Studies.
